about sara

sara e. hughes holds an MFA from Randolph College as a Nancy Blackburn Fellow. She is a 2026 Pushcart Nominee and received honorable mention for the American Poets College & University Prize in 2022.  sara is the recipient of the 2021 Elaine V. Beilin, Howard Hirt, and Marjorie Sparrow Awards of Framingham State University. sara has served as an editor for the Colorado Review, New American Press, Typehouse Press, and Revolute Magazine. ​She consults individual manuscripts.

sara’s work has appeared in Obsidian: Literature & Arts in the African Diaspora, Superstition Review, December Magazine, Tofu Ink Arts Press, the inaugural issue of 3 Sisters Literary of the University of Pittsburgh, and the May 2026 issue of Poetry Magazine.
