about sara
sara e. hughes is a Massachusetts-born poet and is based in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She received an honorable mention for the American Poets College & University Prize in 2022. She is a 2022 Wild Seeds Writer’s Retreat Fellow and a 2022 Aspen Words participant. sara is the recipient of the 2021 Elaine V. Beilin, Howard Hirt, and Marjorie Sparrow Awards of Framingham State University. She holds a BA in English from Framingham State University and is a 2024 Nancy Craig Blackburn Fellow at Randolph College (MFA).

sara’s work is forthcoming in Illinois State University's literary magazine, Obsidian: Literature & Arts in the African Diaspora, and Arizona State University's online magazine, Superstition Review. sara has edited ​for independent poetry manuscripts, the Colorado Review, and New American Press. sara currently serves as a Poetry Reader for Typehouse Press and Poetry Editor for Revolute Magazine.
